Luvo is a frozen meal company with a strong focus on health and nutrition. They came to us with an exciting seed of an idea—an app that would spread their philosophy around healthy eating and help people make better food choices.

A nutritionist in your pocket.

Our team began with simple in-field research to validate the concept, and with a strong, positive confirmation, we got to work.
After immersing ourselves in the Luvo brand and the existing market landscape and countless rounds of sketching, we came up with a highly functional tool with a delightful user experience. At it's core, the Luvo app is a label scanner that translates complex nutrition data into approachable nutrition insights, answering the question: Should I eat this?

We balanced the simple, focused tool with additional educational moments in order provide the most value to the user and share the brand’s message. A friendly nutritionist’s voice was crafted to provide conversational insights and inform the tone of the entire app. A color gradient not only made for ease of comprehension but, when combined with bright colors and a bold graphic photography style, allowed the vibrancy of the brand to come to life.

Working with the data.

The most challenging component of this app was not only finding the right API, but finding the right algorithm that could match data points to different food categories, and correctly map the scan results. Understanding how the data could support the visual output was key. Close collaboration with our dev team helped ensure that the end product would be functional and sustainable for future growth.
